SOC GET TOGETHER 24H LE MANS 2021

20th - 21st August 2021

Le Mans

LE MANS OPENS ITS DOORS TO SOC FOR THE SECOND TIME

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the most famous and loved circuits in the world. It is the Mecca for racing enthusiasts, where drivers and their cars are asked to push their limits in a 24-hour long race and SOC collectors could experience this once-in-a-lifetime challenge. That the drivers could share this thrilling opportunity with like-minded people made the whole thing even more special.

UNLOADING PROCEDURE

The precious cargo was transported and unloaded directly at the Circuit de la Sarthe. The operation immediately attracted the attention of onlookers and insiders alike. The usual car sticker procedure followed: officials placed the iconic sticker on the windscreen, as well as the SOC tattoos on each side of the vehicle.

WELCOME LUNCH

Few combinations are better than the pairing of excellent food and impressive cars. The event kicked off at the Ricordeau restaurant, with over 140 years of rich history. Iconic drivers such as Steve McQueen have often enjoyed meals in this classy establishment. Already an important location for the SOC Get Together 24h of Le Mans 2020, this year's event has attracted curious and aficionados alike who have all tried to capture a picture of the SOC supercars parked outside the restaurant.

IT MATTERS NOT THE DESTINATION, BUT THE JOURNEY

After lunch, the attendees enjoyed an exciting driving experience across the beautiful Loire region and its scenic roads through the villages of Coulans-sur-Gée, Louplande, La Suze-sur-Sarthe, Cérans-Foulletourte, La Fontaine-Saint-Martin, Oizé, Yvré-le-Pôlin, Mayet. "The best roads always connect nowhere with nowhere and have an alternate that gets you there quicker." (*) Nothing could be truer, and it was proven correct when the drivers reached their destination, a big smile painted on their faces.

FROM THE ROAD TO THE SKY

SOC Members are known to be adventurous, sky is their limit and sometimes they are happy to push even past that. The company Hèlibertè allowed the collectors to get a bird's-eye view of the circuit by providing a helicopter ride before they would experience the track in their supercars.

WARM UP

To better prepare the racers for the event, Andy Soucek and the ACO briefed the participants on technical elements specific to the circuit. On the Circuit de la Sarthe, cars often reach high speed and the meeting helped the drivers understand how to manage the circuit, especially late at night, so that everyone could enjoy this rare experience without worrying about anything else.

HOT LAPS ON CIRCUIT DE LA SARTHE

The laps, which took place at sundown and were conducted in two groups led by two official Safety Cars, were epic! Never before have two McLaren Senna GTR LMs been spotted racing on the Le Mans Circuit. It was very exciting seeing such remarkable auto vehicles racing down the legendary Hunaudières to the Mulsanne, their spiritual home.

WHO IS WHO

McLaren Senna GTR LM 825/1

The most iconic, as well as the first model built, although not the most flamboyant in terms of colour, is the McLaren Senna GTR LM 825/1, which features the dark livery of the winning car, the McLaren F1/01R, also known as the "Ueno Clinic" for its sponsor.
The colour has been recreated and called "Ueno Grey" after the Japanese sponsor, combined with wheels in the same colour.

WHO IS WHO

McLaren Senna GTR LM 825/7

Dark blue is the colour scheme of the McLaren Senna GTR LM 825/7, which replicates the colours of the F1/07R known for its Jacadi sponsor.
The fifth placed car is a mix of navy and metallic blue, with the addition of the Elf sponsor and the French flag.

WHO IS WHO

McLaren Senna GTR Lanzante

The McLaren Senna is an unrivaled track machine, refined for the road. The GTR has the same spirit. But, freed from all the road rules and motorsport, it pushes things to the limit. Stripped down to the bare minimum, pumped up, and then released for track use only... it is, quite simply, ferocious. What's more, this model has been converted to road legal status by Lanzate's work.

WHO IS WHO

McLaren P1 GTR

The P1 GTR was never intended to be a road car. Designed for track use only, the P1 GTR costs more than double the price of a 'normal' P1. It has even more extreme aerodynamics and more power. The twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 produces 789bhp, and the electric motor adds a further 197bhp for a total of 986bhp (or 1000PS), compared with 903bhp for the P1.

WHO IS WHO

McLaren P1

The McLaren P1 follows in the footsteps of the iconic McLaren F1.
It is set to become a future classic, rarer than its two contemporary rivals, the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918, and will remain a highlight in McLaren's legendary history. It is a vehicle that combines the best technologies, developed and perfected by McLaren in Formula 1, to create the most exciting, dynamic, and technologically advanced car on the planet.

WHO IS WHO

Ford GT Heritage Edition

The Ford GT Heritage Edition is an even more limited edition of the extreme Ford GT. Its livery, featuring the race number "98", pays homage to the 1966 Ford GT40, which thanks to Carroll Shelby and his driver and test driver Ken Miles achieved one of the most sensational sporting feats in motorsport. 1966 was infact the year of the turning point with a total victory for Ford ahead of rival Enzo Ferrari with a historic hat-trick and a paired finish. This car is anything but ordinary!

WHO IS WHO

Pagani Huayra Roadster BC

The Huayra Roadster BC is inspired at the highest level by beauty and scientific research in every form. Its design is enriched by many details that represent a marriage between classic and contemporary style. A car that is the perfect blend of Leonardo da Vinci’s fundamental art and science principles and Pagani’s commitment to creating a street car that goes above and beyond, in every aspect.

WHO IS WHO

McLaren 720S LM

McLaren has given the 720S some F1-like styling touches to mark the 25th anniversary of the brand's stunning Le Mans victory of 1995 in the McLaren F1 GTR.
The V12 supercar’s racing derivative was a dominant force in the race, making up four of the top five finishers. 25 years on, McLaren in its modern form wants to mark the achievement of JJ Lehto, Yannick Dalmas and Masanori Sekiya in the winning F1, with the ‘720S Le Mans’.

WHO IS WHO

Ferrari 458 Italia

A very special 458 Italia, since it has no steering wheel! It is one of a kind in the world, equipped with an aircraft-like steering system. A cloche positioned in the central tunnel allows the driver to... fly on the road with Italian horses!

COMMUNICATION

McLaren Barcelona partnered up with Supercar Owners Circle for this event. A strategic and tailor-made, joint communication action was carried out on the social channels to announce the exceptional supercars line-up at Le Mans. In various clips, Andy and Eduardo explained some interesting facts about the cars that would take part in the SOC event and described their headquarters, Chelsea 1979, which houses not only the McLaren Barcelona dealership but also a real museum with Formula 1 and MotoGP memorabilia, as well as collector cars.
