THE SUPERCAR OWNERS CIRCLE

SOC WEEKEND CROATIA

3rd to 5th September 2021

Croatia

IN CROATIA FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, SUPERCAR OWNERS CIRCLE GATHERED THE MOST EXCLUSIVE HYPERCARS, PASSIONATE COLLECTORS, CAR MANUFACTURERS AND KEY PLAYERS IN THE AUTOMOTIVE WORLD

Thrilling driving experiences towards iconic spots of the cheerful country and many other surprises created unforgettable memories.

MODERN AND CLASSICAL MEET IN A PUBLIC PARADE

What better way to celebrate Supercar Owners Circle’s first time in Croatia than hosting a public event? Thousands of people gathered at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb to attend the parade. Mr Lucic Zdenko, State Secretary for Foreign Trade and Development cooperation, kicked off the event by placing a sticker on the windscreen of the supercars. Croatian journalist Branimir Tomurad and SOC’s master of ceremonies Flo Akinbiyi introduced the cars.

ADRENALINE AND ENTERTAINMENT AT VELIKA GORICA ZTC AIRPORT

Supercars fans, dedicated street art, and exquisite auto vehicles have come together like never before. At the Velika Gorica ZTC Airport, the SoC convoy was welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd revelling in the beauty of the supercars. Both the public in attendance and long-distant aficionados had the chance to enjoy the race, as SOC set up a lounge area by the track so that the event could be streamed live.

SPEED AND STYLE ARE THE KEYWORDS OF THIS CIRCUIT

Award-winning Croatian artist MIRO loaned his sense of movement to the SOC logo by painting a 12-metre-long graffiti on the track, while the 35-metre-long inscription “Supercar Owners Circle” signalled the completion of the circuit.

FROM CAR TO FAIRY-TALE

An evening in the mood of Croatian entertainment and its international interpreters, with the supercars being the principal feature. The vehicles were exhibited on the terrace of the historic Oleander Terrace of the Esplanade, Zagreb’s most iconic hotel. An artfully-lit perimeter highlighted and complimented the cars’ characteristics, with the RIMAC Nevera towering, on a rotating platform made by Bumat Turntables, above all the others. The guests were welcomed by the Vortex String Quartet and enjoyed a dinner planned by Chef Ana Grgić Tomić. The evening closed with a DJ set by Zozo (Zoran Lazeta).

A PANEL LIKE NO OTHER

Moderator Flo Akinbiyi, together with SOC's COO Niccoló Torri Rocca, joined visionaries Horacio Pagani and Mate Rimac for an inter-generational debate on the state of the industry. The panel also offered insights into Pagani’s experience and company, the genesis of his Huayra R, and the communication strategy project, as well as Rimac’s remarkable biography.

The panel was capped off by a Q&A the following morning. Andy Wallace and Mate Rimac shared life stories and answered questions in a relaxed setting on a terrace overlooking the sea. What better way to kick off the day?

A TOUR OF KRK, CRES, AND MALI LOSINJ ISLANDS

Three islands, 120 km of breath-taking views, and iconic landmarks: from the Krčki Bridge in the morning, all the way to the Bellevue Hotel at sunset and none of this would have been possible without the support of the local law enforcement agencies. The presence of the police officers, from the lining up at the Esplanade, through the visits to Opatija and Lošinj, and the return to Zagreb, allowed for a safe event so that everyone could enjoy the beauty of the SOC Supercars. This event was the first of its kind, bringing public and collectors together without losing sight of what SOC is all about: creating unforgettable experiences for the collectors of these luxurious vehicles.

ACROSS THE SEA

The Jadrolinija company boarded all the supercars at Valbiska Ferry Port onto one of their ferries. From Krk to Cres, and all the way to Mali Losinj. The view from above, with all the cars neatly aligned on the deck of the ferry, has become an iconic image of this memorable weekend.
The "Grand Tour" of the three islands was simply epic!

NOT YOUR USUAL DINNER

The Pagani Imola and the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse welcomed the guests as soon as they stepped into the lobby of the Bellevue Hotel. This sight was followed by yet another breath-taking view as the Bugatti Divo, Pagani Huayra R, and Rímac Nevera were displayed on the pier, set against the backdrop of the sea.

The evening saw Horacio Pagani going into details about the Huayra R project, heir of the Zonda R, and the creative process that has led to the creation of the poster. During the dinner, presenter Flo Akibiniyi and SOC’s COO Niccoló Torri Rocca awarded the Pagani Imola the title of “Best of the show” as voted by the participants.

THE CONCEPT BEHIND THE POSTER

A child is playing with his toy cars, a Rimac in his hand, on a golden track shaped like Croatia, the wonderful country that has hosted this event. The concept, developed with Horacio Pagani, is an evolution of the iconic posters that advertised SOC Weekend Gstaad in 2020 and this year’s 1000 Miglia Experience SOC 2021. Fabrizio Gigliaro signed both works, turning them into valuable collectibles.

SUPPORT CARS

The SOC convoy was divided into three groups:

Bugatti and Rimac
Mixed Hypercar
Classic & Sports

each led by support cars provided for the first time by Porsche via Porsche Centar Zagreb, with a Cayenne Turbo S, a Cayenne GTS, a Panamera GTS and a brand new 992 GT3 finished in Olive Green.

What a match!

ART CONCEPT

Electricity permeates every aspect of life. Electrical impulses regulate the beats of the human heart. The transmission of electric signals is pivotal to the functioning of the brain and nervous system. Electricity is all around us. It’s in the unexpected lightning breaking the clear sky, in the iridescent colours that bring back to life the myths of ancient and pagan gods. In Croatia, the wild imagination and fantasy tales take a life of their own, as they are interpreted by the artist Inna. The landscapes rendered iconic by the famous HBO series “Game of Thrones” clashed and yet beautifully co-existed with state-of-the-art super cars.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Events such as this one don’t simply “happen”. There was a lot of work and preparation, as well as creative challenges, that made the event successful.

A special ramp has been made to allow the cars on the Oleander Terrace of the Esplanade Hotel and made sure that the dinner was an unforgettable and stylish affair.

Bumat Turntable's turntable was assembled on site but its location and lighting had already been carefully considered.

Miro’s graffiti on the ramp took several hours and a substantial amount of patience and precision.

Before the event poster was completed, few drafts were discarded. The eventual result best represents Horacio Pagani’s idea.

A lot of thought and research went into establishing the colours and the aesthetics of the logo which represented the mood of the event.
